Burchett says he's seen UFO videos that 'defy any reason'

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) has joined the growing number of lawmakers expressing curiosity and concern over the potential existence of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). In an interview with Elizabeth Vargas on NewsNation's "Elizabeth Vargas Reports," Burchett shared his thoughts on the recent buzz surrounding UFO sightings and the possibility of government files being released on the topic.
"These people are seeing something out there," Burchett stated, referring to the numerous reports of strange objects in the sky. "We can't just dismiss it as a figment of their imagination. There's something going on and we need to find out what it is."
Burchett's comments come just days after President Trump hinted at the release of government files on UFOs. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that he would "have to think about" declassifying information on the subject. This has sparked excitement and speculation among UFO enthusiasts and government officials alike.
But for Burchett, this is not just a matter of satisfying curiosity. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, he believes that it is important for the government to take these sightings seriously and investigate them thoroughly.
"We have a responsibility to explore and understand the world around us," Burchett explained. "If there are objects in our airspace that we cannot identify, then we need to figure out what they are and if they pose any potential threat."
Burchett is not alone in his concerns. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in UFOs among lawmakers, with several members of Congress pushing for more transparency and research on the topic. In December 2020, the Senate Intelligence Committee included a provision in the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021, requiring the Director of National Intelligence to submit a report on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) to Congress within 180 days.
This report, which is expected to be released in June 2021, will provide a comprehensive overview of all the information the government has on UAPs, including any potential national security implications. Burchett believes that this report will be a crucial step in understanding the truth behind these sightings.
"I'm looking forward to the release of this report," Burchett said. "I think it will shed some light on what's been happening and hopefully give us some answers."
But for Burchett, this is not just about UFOs. He sees this as an opportunity to explore and learn more about our universe and the potential for extraterrestrial life.
"We are just a small speck in the vastness of the universe," Burchett stated. "It's arrogant to think that we are the only intelligent beings out there. I believe that there is more to this world than what we know, and it's our duty to continue to explore and discover."
Burchett's interest in UFOs is not new. In fact, he has been a vocal advocate for space exploration and research throughout his political career. As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, he has consistently pushed for increased funding for NASA and other space programs.
"I believe that space exploration is crucial for our future," Burchett explained. "Not only does it allow us to discover new technologies and resources, but it also helps us understand our place in the universe."
As the world eagerly awaits the release of the government's report on UAPs, Burchett's words serve as a reminder that there is still so much to learn and discover. Whether it's through exploring our own planet or looking to the stars, the pursuit of knowledge and understanding is a never-ending journey.
"We should never stop asking questions and seeking answers," Burchett concluded. "Who knows what we may find out there."
