Hogg’s political group makes endorsements in Utah, New York House races

Leaders We Deserve, the political group co-founded by gun control activist David Hogg, has made its first endorsements in the upcoming open primaries for House seats in Utah and New York. The organization has thrown its support behind state Sen. Nathan Blouin (D) and state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, both of whom are running for newly drawn congressional districts.

Blouin, a seasoned politician with a strong track record of advocating for progressive policies, is running in a crowded primary field for Utah’s 1st Congressional District. This district, which encompasses Salt Lake City, has been redrawn to better reflect the diverse and dynamic population of the state. With a number of contenders vying for the seat, Blouin stands out as a leader who is committed to making a positive impact in his community.

One of Blouin’s main opponents in the primary is former Rep. Mia Love, who held the seat for two terms before losing to Democrat Ben McAdams in 2018. Love, a Republican, has been criticized for her lack of action on important issues such as gun control and climate change. In contrast, Blouin has been a vocal advocate for sensible gun laws and has pledged to take bold action to combat the climate crisis.

In endorsing Blouin, Leaders We Deserve recognizes his strong leadership skills and his unwavering commitment to fighting for the rights and well-being of all Utahns. As a state senator, Blouin has consistently championed legislation that promotes social and economic justice, and he has been a vocal advocate for marginalized communities. His dedication to creating a more equitable and inclusive society aligns perfectly with the values of Leaders We Deserve.

In addition to Blouin, Leaders We Deserve has also thrown its support behind Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, who is running for a House seat in New York’s newly drawn congressional district. Valdez, a Democrat, has a proven track record of fighting for progressive policies and has been a vocal advocate for gun control measures in her state.

Valdez’s district, which includes parts of New York City and its surrounding suburbs, is a diverse and dynamic community that is in need of strong and effective leadership. In endorsing Valdez, Leaders We Deserve recognizes her ability to bring people together and find common ground on important issues. Her dedication to serving her constituents and making a positive impact in her community makes her an ideal candidate for the House seat.

Both Blouin and Valdez have shown a strong commitment to addressing the urgent issues facing our country, such as gun violence and climate change. They have also demonstrated a willingness to work across party lines to find solutions that benefit all Americans. These are the qualities that Leaders We Deserve looks for in its endorsed candidates, and we are proud to support Blouin and Valdez in their respective races.

As we approach the open primaries in Utah and New York, it is crucial that we elect leaders who will prioritize the well-being of their constituents and work towards creating a better future for all. Blouin and Valdez have proven themselves to be dedicated, passionate, and effective leaders, and we are confident that they will continue to make a positive impact in their communities and in Congress.

We urge all voters in Utah and New York to support Blouin and Valdez in the upcoming open primaries. Let’s send a message that we want leaders who will fight for our values and work towards a better and more just society for all. With Blouin and Valdez in Congress, we can be sure that our voices will be heard and our concerns will be addressed. Let’s make our voices count and elect leaders we can be proud of.
