Luna: Graham ‘does NOT tell the President what to do’

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has taken a strong stance against Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for his recent defense of the U.S. military operation in Iran. In a scathing statement on the social platform X, Luna criticized Graham for his unwavering support of military intervention and his failure to advise President Trump on how to handle the conflict.

“There are some in the Senate that advocate for war everywhere,” Luna wrote. “Lindsey Graham is one of them.”

Luna’s comments come after Graham appeared on several news outlets defending the U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. Graham argued that the strike was necessary to prevent future attacks on American interests and that the President has the authority to take such action without congressional approval.

But Luna, a military veteran herself, sees things differently. She believes that Graham’s hawkish approach to foreign policy is dangerous and could lead to further escalation of tensions in the region.

“As a former member of the military, I understand the gravity of war and the consequences it can have on both sides,” Luna stated. “It is not something that should be taken lightly or used as a political tool.”

Luna also criticized Graham for not using his position as a senior member of the Senate to advise President Trump on how to handle the situation in Iran. She believes that it is the responsibility of lawmakers to provide guidance and oversight to the President, especially when it comes to matters of national security.

“Lindsey Graham does not have the authority to tell President Trump how to oversee the conflict, but he does have a duty to offer his expertise and counsel,” Luna wrote. “Instead, he chooses to blindly support military action without considering the potential consequences.”

Luna’s comments have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many praising her for speaking out against Graham’s stance on Iran. Some have even called for Graham to step down from his position as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, citing his lack of judgment and reckless approach to foreign policy.

But despite the backlash, Luna stands by her words and remains committed to advocating for a more cautious and diplomatic approach to international conflicts.

“Iran is a complex and volatile situation, and we must tread carefully to avoid further escalation,” Luna stated. “I urge my colleagues in the Senate to think critically and consider the long-term consequences of their actions before blindly supporting military intervention.”

Luna’s bold stance against Graham has earned her praise from both sides of the political spectrum, with many commending her for speaking truth to power and standing up for what she believes in.

In a time of heightened tensions and political division, it is refreshing to see a lawmaker like Luna who is willing to put country before party and speak out against actions that could have serious consequences. As the situation in Iran continues to unfold, let us hope that more leaders like Luna will step up and advocate for a more measured and thoughtful approach to foreign policy.
