Tripura CM reviews action taken on AIIMS MoU, key healthcare reforms underway

The state of Tripura has been making significant strides in the field of healthcare in recent years. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, the state government has been working tirelessly to improve the healthcare infrastructure and services in the state. In a recent development, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress made on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed for the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state. He also took stock of the key healthcare reforms that are currently underway in Tripura.

The MoU for the establishment of AIIMS in Tripura was signed between the state government and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in 2018. This was a significant step towards providing quality healthcare services to the people of Tripura. The AIIMS in Tripura will be the third such institute in the northeastern region, after AIIMS in Assam and AIIMS in Manipur. The institute will have state-of-the-art facilities and will cater to the healthcare needs of not just Tripura, but also the neighboring states.

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress made on the AIIMS project. He directed the officials to expedite the process and ensure that the institute becomes operational at the earliest. He also stressed on the need to maintain the highest standards of quality in the construction and functioning of the institute. The AIIMS in Tripura is expected to provide a major boost to the healthcare sector in the state and will also generate employment opportunities for the local youth.

Apart from the AIIMS project, the Chief Minister also reviewed the key healthcare reforms that are currently underway in Tripura. These reforms are aimed at improving the overall healthcare infrastructure and services in the state. One of the major reforms is the introduction of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Tripura. This scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to provide health insurance coverage to the economically vulnerable sections of the society. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment for various ailments in empaneled hospitals.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress made on the construction of new hospitals and upgradation of existing ones in the state. The government has sanctioned funds for the construction of new district hospitals in Unakoti, Gomati, and Dhalai districts. The existing hospitals in the state are also being upgraded with modern facilities and equipment. This will not only improve the quality of healthcare services but also reduce the burden on the existing healthcare facilities.

In addition to these reforms, the state government is also focusing on improving the availability of doctors and other healthcare professionals in the state. The Chief Minister directed the officials to expedite the recruitment process for vacant posts in various healthcare facilities. He also stressed on the need to provide proper training and incentives to the healthcare professionals to ensure their retention in the state.

The review meeting also discussed the steps being taken to improve the healthcare services in the rural areas of Tripura. The government has launched the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana to provide free healthcare services to the people living in the remote areas of the state. Under this scheme, mobile medical units are deployed to provide basic healthcare services to the people in their villages. This has not only improved the accessibility of healthcare services but has also reduced the burden on the urban healthcare facilities.

The Chief Minister also emphasized on the need to create awareness among the people about the various healthcare schemes and facilities available to them. He urged the officials to conduct awareness campaigns in the rural areas to educate the people about the importance of maintaining good health and availing the benefits of the government schemes.

In conclusion, the review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister has once again highlighted the government’s commitment towards improving the healthcare sector in Tripura. The progress made on the AIIMS project and the key healthcare reforms underway are a testament to the government’s efforts in this direction. With the establishment of AIIMS and the implementation of various healthcare schemes, the people of Tripura can look forward to a healthier and better future. The state government’s proactive approach towards healthcare is truly commendable and is sure to bring about a positive change in the lives of the people.
