In the La Pintada district in Coclé, more than 15 families have carried out the first partial harvest of tilapia through the Sustainable Agricultural Community Committee of Cascajal. This project has been made possible through collaboration between the community, the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP), and the Cobre Panama company.
In this initial partial harvest, approximately 300 pounds of tilapia were obtained, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds. These tilapia will be used both for personal consumption and for commercialization, allowing these families to generate additional income.
Furthermore, these families have access to a grinding machine that will enable them to transform the fish into nuggets and hamburgers, adding value to their products and diversifying their marketing options.
