As a reporter, my job was to remain unbiased and present the facts to the public. I took pride in my profession and took my responsibility to inform the public seriously. That is why I made the conscious decision to be an “unenrolled” voter, not affiliated with any political party, and to refrain from any political activism.

Being an unenrolled voter meant that I did not align myself with any specific political party. This allowed me to approach my reporting with a neutral perspective, free from any personal biases or agendas. I firmly believed that as a journalist, it was my duty to remain impartial and not let my personal beliefs influence my work.

I also made a conscious effort to refrain from any political activism, such as signing petitions, displaying bumper stickers, or donating to candidates. While these are all forms of freedom of expression and participation in the democratic process, I felt that as a reporter, it was important to maintain a level of detachment from any political affiliations. I did not want to give the impression that I was advocating for a particular agenda or candidate through my actions.

Some may argue that as a member of the media, I had a responsibility to use my platform to support certain political causes or candidates. However, I strongly disagree with this notion. I believe that the role of a journalist is to inform and educate the public, not to sway their opinions. By remaining neutral and unbiased, I was able to provide the public with objective information, allowing them to form their own opinions.

Furthermore, as a reporter, I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing individuals from all walks of life, with diverse political beliefs. By not aligning myself with any particular party or cause, I was able to approach each interview with an open mind and without any preconceived notions. This not only allowed for more meaningful and in-depth conversations but also helped me to better understand and represent the perspectives of my interviewees.

Some may argue that by not participating in the political process, I was not exercising my democratic rights. However, I believe that my role as a reporter was to ensure that the public was informed about the political landscape, not to sway their opinions or influence their decisions. I did exercise my right to vote, but I did so without any external influence or pressure.

In a time where media bias and misinformation are widespread, it is more important than ever for journalists to maintain their objectivity and remain impartial. By not aligning myself with any political party or cause, I was able to uphold the values of journalism and serve the public with integrity.

In conclusion, my decision to be an unenrolled voter and refrain from political activism while working as a reporter was a conscious one. It allowed me to approach my job with a neutral perspective, free from any personal biases or agendas. As a journalist, my priority was to inform and educate the public, and I firmly believe that my actions reflected this responsibility.
