The Haryana Government has formed a new company, Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd. (GMRL), to build and operate the much-awaited Millennium City Centre to Cyber City Metro project. This 28.50 km corridor will provide an efficient and reliable public transport system in the Gurugram metropolitan region, connecting the millennium city to the cyber hub.
This corridor will be built in three sections – Cyber City to Huda City Centre, Huda City Centre to Rajiv Chowk and Rajiv Chowk to Millennium City Centre. In addition, a total of 21 stations are planned along the route.
The project will be implemented in phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by 2021. The Haryana Government has already approved the detailed project report (DPR) of the corridor. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3,000 crore.
The corridor will be a boon for the people of Gurugram as it will reduce travel time between millennium city centre and cyber city to just over 30 minutes, compared to nearly two hours currently. In addition, it will also reduce traffic congestion on the roads and lead to considerable savings in fuel costs.
The corridor will also create thousands of jobs in the area, both directly and indirectly. Apart from the construction and operation of the corridor, it will also create employment opportunities in the form of retail, hospitality, tourism and other related services.
The corridor is expected to bring about a major transformation in the urban landscape of Gurugram, making it one of the most connected cities in the country. It will also provide a much-needed boost to the local economy, as well as the overall development of the Gurugram metropolitan region.
The Haryana Government has taken a number of steps to ensure the timely completion of the project. The entire route has been cleared by the respective authorities and the land acquisition process has already begun. The work on the construction of the corridor is likely to begin soon.
The Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd. (GMRL) is committed to making the corridor a reality, while ensuring the safety and convenience of passengers. It has also taken a number of steps to ensure that the corridor is environment-friendly and energy-efficient.
The corridor is expected to revolutionize the public transport system in the Gurugram metropolitan region, providing a safe, reliable and comfortable mode of transport to the people. It will also provide an impetus to the overall development of the region and contribute to the economic growth of the state.
Overall, the introduction of the Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd. and the Millennium City Centre to Cyber City project is a welcome move by the Haryana Government. It will go a long way in enhancing urban transit in the region and providing an efficient and reliable mode of transport to the people.
