Veteran Sunil Gavaskar has backed team India to make a comeback in the ongoing IND vs SA 1st Test. At the end of Day 2, skipper Dean Elgar led the charge for the Proteas as the home team has also gained a small lead of 11 runs in the first innings. Elgar and Marco Jansen are to set to continue the proceedings for South Africa on Day 3.
Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar opined that team India can still make a comeback in the ongoing Test. “Match is evenly poised. We don’t know if Temba Bavuma will bat or not, apart from Jansen and Elgar rest of players are bowlers in South Africa line-up. If India manages to get some wickets in the morning session then they are right back in the game,” said Gavaskar in a conversation with Star Sports.
Bad light brings an end to Day 2.
South Africa reach 256/5, with a lead of 11 runs.

Playing his last Test match, Dean Elgar made the difference on Day 2 of the IND vs SA 1st Test. “I had a really good domestic season but you got to do the time in the middle. Coming to the series pretty confident. I wanted to play with a little bit of freedom. I still wanna perform and contribute for the side to get to winning position. Want to score Test hundreds and today was one of those days,” said Elgar.
