Mike Benz Reveals the One Endowment Republicans Must Cut in Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill

In a recent interview on Friday’s “Alex Marlow Show,” founder of the Foundation for Freedom Online, Mike Benz, made a bold statement about the Trump administration’s funding of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Benz argued that it makes no sense for the administration to continue funding the NED, and that it should be the one endowment that Republicans must cut in Trump’s “big beautiful bill.”

Benz’s comments come at a time when the Trump administration is facing pressure to make budget cuts and reduce government spending. With the NED receiving an annual budget of over $170 million, Benz believes that cutting this endowment would be a step in the right direction towards fiscal responsibility.

“For the life of me, I cannot understand why the Trump administration would continue to fund the NED,” Benz stated. “It goes against everything that the administration stands for – smaller government, less interference in foreign affairs, and putting America first.”

The NED was established in 1983 as a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting democracy and freedom around the world. However, over the years, it has faced criticism for its methods and effectiveness. Some argue that the NED has been used as a tool for US intervention in other countries’ affairs, often leading to instability and conflict.

Benz also pointed out that the NED has a history of funding organizations and movements that do not align with conservative values. “The NED has been known to support left-leaning groups and organizations that promote ideologies that are contrary to the conservative principles that the Republican party stands for,” he explained.

Furthermore, Benz argued that the NED’s efforts have not yielded significant results. “Despite receiving millions of dollars in funding, the NED has failed to bring about any real change or promote democracy in the countries it operates in. In fact, in some cases, it has even caused more harm than good,” he stated.

Benz’s call to cut funding for the NED has been met with support from many conservatives and Trump supporters. They see it as a necessary step towards reducing government spending and staying true to the administration’s principles.

In addition, Benz suggested that the funds allocated for the NED could be better utilized in other areas, such as investing in domestic infrastructure or providing tax relief for American citizens. “There are much better ways to use this money that would benefit the American people directly,” he said.

Some critics of Benz’s proposal argue that cutting funding for the NED would send a message to the world that the US is no longer committed to promoting democracy and freedom. However, Benz believes that this is not the case. “The US will continue to support democracy and freedom, but it should do so in a more effective and responsible manner,” he stated.

In conclusion, it is clear that the NED has become a controversial and ineffective organization that does not align with the Trump administration’s principles. Mike Benz’s call to cut funding for this endowment is a step in the right direction towards reducing government spending and promoting fiscal responsibility. It is time for the Trump administration to take a stand and make the necessary cuts, starting with the NED.
