Vijay Varma Says He ‘Secretly’ Applied To FTII: ‘I Ran Away From Home; Dad Was Strict’

Bollywood actor Vijay Varma has become the talk of the town ever since he made his debut in the critically acclaimed movie ‘Gully Boy’. The young and talented actor has been making waves in the industry with his versatile acting skills and charming personality. But little did we know, that before making it big in the industry, Vijay had to face his own set of struggles and challenges.

Recently, in an interview, Vijay Varma opened up about his journey to becoming an actor and revealed a shocking fact. The actor shared that he had applied to the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, but he had kept it a secret from his family.

“I ran away from home to apply for FTII. My father was very strict and didn’t want me to pursue acting as a career. But I knew that this is what I wanted to do, so I took a bold step and secretly applied for FTII,” Vijay said.

This revelation came as a surprise to many of his fans and followers, who admired Vijay for his determination and passion towards his dream.

The journey to FTII was not an easy one for Vijay. He was determined to get into the institute and knew that he had to give his best shot. He prepared tirelessly and appeared for the written exam, followed by the practical and interview rounds. Despite facing tough competition, Vijay’s perseverance paid off, and he got selected to pursue a course in acting at FTII.

However, the happiness was short-lived as Vijay’s father did not agree with his decision to become an actor. He wanted Vijay to follow a more conventional career path. But Vijay’s dream was bigger than his father’s expectations, and he decided to stand his ground.

“I knew that this was my calling, and I couldn’t let go of it. I had to make my father understand that acting is not just a hobby for me, but it’s what I truly love and want to make a career in,” Vijay shared.

Eventually, with the support of his mother and sister, Vijay’s father came around and accepted his son’s career choice. Today, Vijay’s father couldn’t be prouder of his son’s achievements and is a constant source of motivation for the actor.

Vijay’s journey from ‘running away from home’ to becoming a successful Bollywood actor is truly inspiring and teaches us the lesson of following our dreams no matter what. He proved that with hard work, dedication, and determination, one can achieve anything they set their heart upon.

Vijay also shared that his time at FTII was a turning point in his life. It not only gave him the platform to hone his acting skills but also helped him develop a deeper understanding of the craft. He expressed his gratitude to the institute for shaping him into the actor he is today.

FTII, established in 1960, is a premier institute for film and television training in India. The institute boasts of renowned alumni such as Naseeruddin Shah, Jaya Bachchan, and Om Puri. It is known for its rigorous training and has produced notable actors, directors, and writers for the Indian film industry.

Vijay’s journey from FTII to Bollywood has been nothing short of remarkable. He made his mark in the industry with his debut movie ‘Meme Machine’ and has since then appeared in several acclaimed movies such as ‘Monsoon Shootout’, ‘Pink’, and ‘She’.
