Smriti Mandhana becomes second Indian batter to achieve 3000 runs in WT20Is

Indian batter Smriti Mandhana on Friday became the second Indian to cross 3,000 runs in T20 cricket in the IND W vs AUS W 1st T20I. Mandhana is the sixth batter overall in world cricket achieve this feat in WT20Is.

Mandhana started her T20 career in 2013 against Bangladesh. In a career spanning over a decade, Mandhana has played 125 WT20Is in her career, scoring 2998 runs before today’s match. She has scored the runs on an average of over 27 with an attacking strike rate of over 122. The southpaw has scored 22 50s in her WT20I career but is yet to score a century.

Amongst the Indians, Mandhana is only second to skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in terms of runs scored in WT20Is. Harmanpreet has scored 3195 runs in 158 matches in her long career.

However, with a few good innings in the WT20Is in 2024, Mandhana can become the highest scoring Indian batter in the T20Is. Although It is possible that personal milestones will be secondary for Mandhana at the moment, with Team India gunning for glory in the IND W vs AUS W T20I series.
