IND vs AFG: Jay Shah to decide Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s T20I fate

BCCI secretary Jay Shah might have the final say on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s inclusion in the upcoming IND vs AFG T20I series, starting on January 11.

According to PTI, the selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, are in a dilemma over selecting the veteran duo for the 3-match T20I series.

The reports have claimed that another round of discussion is likely to take place, hence a delay in the announcement of the squad.

The reports further stated that the selectors are aware that inclusion of both Kohli and Rohit will hamper the team balance.

Nevertheless, there remains a chance that both veterans might be included in the squad, albeit without a guaranteed spot in the T20 World Cup.

Earlier, Agarkar had flow to South Africa during the Cape Town Test to talk to both cricketers where the duo made themselves available for the T20Is.

Notably, Rohit and Virat hasn’t been part of the t20I setup since T20 World Cup 2022. Given the selectors’ focus on young guns for the upcoming World Cup, the inclusion of these two batting stalwarts could potentially be viewed as a step backward.
