Rafael Varane contemplating move to Saudi Arabia? Frenchman makes decision

Manchester United defender Rafael Varane has reportedly made a decision on his move to Saudi Arabia after slowly falling down the pecking order in the Manchester United set up.

The centre-back has had a difficult time finding regular first-team opportunities at Old Trafford, with just five starts in the Premier League so far this season – with defenders such as Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, or Jonny Evans starting in his place.

As a result, speculation has begun to swirl that he could be on the verge of leaving the club, with Saudi Arabia and his former club Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing him to replace the injured David Alaba.

If he joins the Saudi Pro League, he could team up with former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema again.

However, according to French news agency L’Equipe, Varane’s associates have said that a transfer to Saudi Arabia or Qatar is out of the question.

Varane has previously said that he will finish his career at Real Madrid, Manchester United or at Lens – where he began his career. The Frenchman still has a strong relationship with the Spanish giants, having kept in touch with players and managers that he has worked with and even keeping his home in Madrid.

However, no contact has been made between the club and the player regarding a January move. According to sources, Varane does not want to move mid-season, but understands that his current deal at Manchester United cannot last more than a year.
