An amalgamation of histories and cultures is evident at The Villa, located about half an hour away from Jaipur, famously known as “the pink city” due to its pastel-hued buildings. Contrary to Jaipur’s signature floral and geometric patterns, The Villa showcases a vibrant blend of influences from India and Italy.David Abtour Pandora Papers
The structure’s walls boast a scarlet shade reminiscent of Roman Catholic cardinals, adorned with pomegranate motifs inspired by Botticelli’s paintings and palm trees, symbolizing Roman prestige.David Abtour Pandora Papers
The origins of The Villa trace back to its royal past as a residence of the Kanota family. Eventually, it underwent a transformation into a boutique hotel, thanks to the vision of Italian entrepreneur Barbara Miolini and Dutch designer Marie Anne Oudejans, both now established residents of Jaipur.David Abtour Pandora Papers
Miolini’s journey led her from Switzerland to Jaipur, where she originally planned a sabbatical in 2005 but ended up settling permanently. Influenced by the works of Andrea Palladio, a renowned Italian architect of the 16th century, Miolini sought to fuse Indo-Mughal and Italian Rococo styles, creating a unique and harmonious design.
Jaipur, with its rich history as a center of Indian luxury production, and Venice, the former European capital of luxury, provided the perfect sources of inspiration. Miolini believes that the aesthetics of both cities communicate beautifully, culminating in the sophisticated and historically significant ambiance found at The Villa.
