Sauce Gardner Reveals His Favorite NFL Receiver In High School

The New York Jets have been making waves in the NFL lately, and it’s not just because of their flashy new uniforms. Many experts and fans alike have been picking them to make a strong run this season, and one of the main reasons for this optimism is their impressive defense.

On paper, the Jets have one of the best defenses in the league. Their front seven is stacked with talented and experienced players, and their secondary is led by one of the most exciting young cornerbacks in the game – Sauce Gardner.

Gardner, who quickly became a household name in college football, has continued to impress in the NFL. But what many people may not know is that before he became a star on the gridiron, he was also a standout high school player. And recently, he revealed his favorite NFL receiver from his high school days.

Growing up in Toledo, Ohio, Gardner attended Whitmer High School, where he made a name for himself as a versatile and dominant athlete. In addition to playing football, he also excelled in basketball and track and field. But it was on the football field where he truly shined.

As a wide receiver, Gardner was a force to be reckoned with. His speed, agility, and natural talent made him a nightmare for opposing defenses. And one receiver, in particular, stood out to him – DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins, who is now a star receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, was playing for Clemson University at the time. And Gardner, like many others, was in awe of his skills.

“I remember watching DeAndre Hopkins in college and just being amazed by his ability to catch anything thrown his way,” Gardner reminisces. “He was such a dynamic player, and I always looked up to him as a receiver.”

But it wasn’t just Hopkins’ talent that caught Gardner’s attention. It was also his work ethic and determination to be the best. “He was always pushing himself to be better, and that’s something that I admire and try to emulate in my own game,” says Gardner.

During his high school career, Gardner continued to improve and cemented his status as one of the top players in the state. He caught the attention of many college scouts and ultimately chose to attend the University of Cincinnati, where he continued to excel as a cornerback.

Now, as a member of the New York Jets, Gardner is determined to make an impact and help his team reach new heights. And with the guidance and leadership of veteran players like safety Marcus Maye and linebacker C.J. Mosley, he is well on his way to becoming a top-tier player in the NFL.

But despite his success, Gardner remains humble and focused on his goals. When asked about his favorite receiver in the league now, he doesn’t hesitate to say that it’s still DeAndre Hopkins.

“I’ve always been a fan of his, and I still am today. He’s a true leader on and off the field, and I have a lot of respect for him,” Gardner says.

As the Jets gear up for the upcoming season, fans are eagerly anticipating what this talented defense can do on the field. And with players like Sauce Gardner leading the way, there’s no telling how far this team can go.

So keep an eye out for #2 on the field, because Sauce Gardner is ready to make a name for himself and prove that he is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. And who knows, maybe one day a young player will look up to him as their favorite receiver from high school.
