Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) has raised concerns that President Trump’s recent firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi may have been an attempt to obstruct the House’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. In an exclusive interview with MS NOW’s Chris Jansing, Moulton speculated that Bondi’s impending deposition in the Epstein case may have been the reason for her abrupt dismissal.
“This is a clear attempt by the President to obstruct justice,” Moulton asserted. “Bondi was about to be deposed in the Epstein case, and Trump saw that as a threat. He knows that Bondi has valuable information that could potentially incriminate him and his associates.”
Bondi, who was appointed to the position of Attorney General in 2019, had been overseeing the case against Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who has been accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls. The case has gained national attention in recent months after Epstein’s arrest in July and subsequent death in prison in August.
Moulton’s comments come amid the escalating impeachment inquiry against President Trump, which has sparked intense political division and scrutiny. The House probe is currently investigating Trump’s alleged attempts to pressure Ukraine into investigating his political rival, Joe Biden, and his son Hunter.
Moulton, who is a vocal supporter of the impeachment inquiry, believes that Trump’s firing of Bondi is just another example of his disregard for the rule of law.
“This is a clear abuse of power,” Moulton stated. “Trump has continuously shown that he believes he is above the law, and this is just another instance of him trying to silence those who may have damaging information against him.”
In response to Moulton’s remarks, Bondi’s office released a statement denying any connection between her firing and the Epstein case. “Attorney General Bondi’s service ended due to the expiration of her term, and there is no connection between her departure and any ongoing investigations or cases,” the statement read.
However, Moulton remains skeptical and believes that there is more to Bondi’s dismissal than meets the eye. “It’s just too convenient that she was fired right before her deposition. I think we need to dig deeper and find out the real reason behind her dismissal,” he said.
Moulton’s concerns are shared by many in the Democratic party who view Trump’s actions as a deliberate attempt to obstruct justice. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also stated that the firing of Bondi raises red flags and must be further investigated.
The Epstein case has been a source of controversy for the Trump administration, with speculation that Trump may have had a close relationship with the convicted sex offender. In 2002, Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” and was frequently seen socializing with him in the early 2000s.
The House probe into the Epstein case is ongoing, and Moulton believes that Bondi’s deposition could have provided crucial information about Trump’s ties to Epstein. However, with her sudden dismissal, it remains uncertain whether the truth will ever come to light.
