Trump endorses Hern for Mullin’s Oklahoma Senate seat

President Trump has made his decision on who he wants to see replace Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) as the next Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary. In a post on his new social media platform, Truth Social, Trump endorsed Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) for the Senate seat, which Hern officially launched his bid for this week.

In his post, Trump praised Hern as a strong conservative and a dedicated public servant. He also highlighted Hern’s experience as a successful businessman and his commitment to protecting our nation’s borders and keeping Americans safe.

Hern, who currently represents Oklahoma’s 1st congressional district, is a strong supporter of Trump’s America First agenda. He has been a vocal advocate for securing the southern border and has consistently voted in favor of Trump’s policies and initiatives.

In his announcement for the Senate bid, Hern stated, “I am running for the Senate because I believe in the America First agenda and I want to continue to fight for the people of Oklahoma and our country.” He also expressed his gratitude for Trump’s endorsement, saying, “I am honored to have the support of President Trump and I am committed to working with him to advance our shared goals.”

Trump’s endorsement of Hern comes as no surprise, as the two have a strong relationship and have worked closely together in the past. Hern was one of the first members of Congress to endorse Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign and has been a loyal ally ever since.

The endorsement from Trump is a major boost for Hern’s campaign, as he faces a crowded field of Republican candidates vying for the Senate seat. But with Trump’s backing, Hern is sure to gain momentum and support from the Republican base.

Hern’s bid for the Senate seat comes after Sen. Mullin announced his decision to not seek re-election and instead pursue the position of DHS secretary. Trump had previously considered Mullin for the role, but ultimately decided to endorse him for the Senate seat.

In his post, Trump also thanked Mullin for his service and expressed his confidence in Hern’s ability to fill his shoes. “I am confident that Kevin Hern will be a strong and effective leader in the Senate, just as he has been in the House,” Trump wrote.

Hern’s bid for the Senate has already gained support from other prominent Republicans, including Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.). With Trump’s endorsement, Hern is well-positioned to secure the Republican nomination and potentially win the Senate seat in the 2022 midterm elections.

The endorsement also highlights the growing influence of Truth Social, Trump’s new social media platform. Since its launch, the platform has gained millions of users and has become a powerful tool for Trump to communicate with his supporters and endorse candidates.

In his post, Trump encouraged his followers to join Truth Social and support Hern’s campaign. “Let’s show our support for Kevin Hern and make sure he is the next Senator from Oklahoma!” he wrote.

As the 2022 midterm elections draw closer, Trump’s endorsement of Hern is a clear indication of his continued influence in the Republican Party and his commitment to promoting candidates who align with his America First agenda. With Trump’s backing, Hern has a strong chance of winning the Senate seat and continuing to advance the conservative values that Trump and his supporters hold dear.
