Lawler rips Massie, Democrats over war powers push after US strikes in Iran

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) has come out strongly against his fellow Republican colleague Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Democratic lawmakers who are pushing for a war powers resolution in response to the recent joint strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel. In a scathing statement on Saturday, Lawler condemned their actions and defended President Trump’s decision to take action against Iran.

According to Lawler, the president has every right to act in the best interests of the country and protect its citizens and allies. He stressed the importance of allowing the president to have the flexibility and authority to make swift and decisive military decisions when necessary.

Lawler also pointed out the hypocrisy of those calling for a war powers resolution, saying that they were not so vocal when previous administrations took military action without congressional approval. He specifically called out Democrats for their silence during the Obama administration’s intervention in Libya.

The representative from New York emphasized the importance of unity and standing behind the president during a time of crisis. He stated that the current situation with Iran requires a strong and united front, and any attempts to undermine the president’s authority only serve to weaken the country’s position.

Lawler also highlighted the fact that President Trump has not taken any rash or impulsive actions, but rather acted out of necessity and with careful consideration. He defended the president’s decision to carry out the strikes, saying that it was a necessary measure to prevent future attacks on American and Israeli interests.

In addition, Lawler pointed out that the president has followed protocol and notified Congress within the required 48 hours of deploying troops or carrying out an attack. Therefore, any calls for a war powers resolution are baseless and only serve to create unnecessary political turmoil.

The representative from New York also stressed the importance of supporting our allies, particularly Israel, in the face of growing hostility from Iran. He commended the joint efforts of the U.S. and Israel in carrying out the strikes, sending a strong message to Iran that their aggression will not be tolerated.

Lawler concluded his statement by reaffirming his support for President Trump and his actions against Iran. He urged his fellow lawmakers to put aside their political differences and come together in support of the president’s actions to protect the country and its allies.

In a time of uncertainty and rising tensions, it is important for the American people to have a strong and united government. Rep. Mike Lawler’s unwavering support for the president and his decision to take action against Iran is a testament to his dedication to the country and its safety. We can only hope that his fellow lawmakers will follow his lead and put the well-being of the nation above political gain.
