Uttarakhand CM Launches 12 Initiatives to Empower Rural Livelihoods
Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has launched 12 new initiatives under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to uplift the rural communities in the state. These initiatives aim to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities, skill development, and social empowerment to the people living in the remote areas of Uttarakhand.
The NRLM was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in 2011 with the objective of reducing poverty and empowering the rural poor through self-employment and skill development. The program has been successfully implemented in various states, and now Uttarakhand has joined the league by launching these 12 initiatives.
The Chief Minister, in his address, emphasized the need to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas and ensure the overall development of the state. He said, “The rural communities are the backbone of our society, and it is our responsibility to provide them with equal opportunities to grow and prosper. These initiatives under NRLM will not only create employment but also promote entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency among the people.”
One of the key initiatives launched by the Chief Minister is the “Uttarakhand Rural Livelihoods Mission” (URLM), which will serve as the nodal agency for implementing NRLM in the state. The URLM will focus on building the capacity of the rural poor, organizing them into self-help groups, and providing them with access to financial resources and livelihood opportunities. This will not only help in poverty alleviation but also promote inclusive growth in the state.
Under the URLM, the Chief Minister also launched the “Uttarakhand Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society” (URLPS), which will work towards strengthening the grassroots institutions and promoting women’s self-help groups. This will enable women to become self-reliant and contribute to the economic growth of their families and the state.
Another significant initiative is the “Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana” (DDU-GKY), which aims to provide skill development training to the rural youth and make them employable. The program will focus on sectors like agriculture, tourism, and handicrafts, which have immense potential for employment generation in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister believes that this will not only reduce the migration of youth to cities but also boost the rural economy.
To promote entrepreneurship among the rural youth, the Chief Minister launched the “Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program” (SVEP). This program will provide financial and technical support to aspiring entrepreneurs from the rural areas and help them establish their own businesses. This will not only create employment opportunities but also contribute to the growth of the state’s economy.
The Chief Minister also launched the “Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana” (MKSP), which aims to empower women farmers by providing them with training, resources, and market linkages. This will not only increase the productivity of the agriculture sector but also improve the socio-economic status of women in rural areas.
Apart from these, the Chief Minister also launched initiatives like “Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana” (AGEY) for rural transport, “Rural Self Employment Training Institutes” (RSETIs) for skill development, “National Rural Livelihoods Mission – Aajeevika” for financial inclusion, “Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission” for social empowerment, “Ajivika Udyami Vikas Abhiyan” for promoting rural entrepreneurship, and “Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihoods Mission” for overall implementation and monitoring of NRLM in the state.
The launch of these initiatives has been welcomed by the rural communities, who believe that it will bring a positive change in their lives. The state government has also assured that proper monitoring and evaluation mechanisms will be put in place to ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives.
In conclusion, the launch of these 12 initiatives under NRLM by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister is a significant step towards the development of rural communities and the overall growth of the state.
