Petrol, Diesel Fresh Prices Announced: Check Rates In Your City On May 2

Petrol and diesel prices have been a topic of concern for many Indians, especially in the current economic climate. With the constant fluctuations in fuel prices, it has become essential for people to keep track of the rates in their respective cities. On May 2, 2021, the prices of petrol and diesel were revised, and it is crucial for citizens to be aware of the changes.

Let’s take a look at the city-wise rates of petrol and diesel across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

Delhi:
The national capital, Delhi, saw a slight decrease in the prices of petrol and diesel on May 2. The price of petrol was reduced by 15 paise per litre, bringing it down to Rs. 90.40 per litre. Similarly, the price of diesel was also decreased by 15 paise per litre, making it Rs. 80.73 per litre. This is the second consecutive day of price reduction in Delhi, providing some relief to the citizens.

Mumbai:
In Mumbai, the financial capital of India, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged on May 2. The price of petrol in the city is Rs. 96.83 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs. 87.81 per litre. Despite the constant rates, Mumbai still has the highest fuel prices among all major cities in India.

Kolkata:
The city of joy, Kolkata, also saw a decrease in the prices of petrol and diesel on May 2. The price of petrol was reduced by 14 paise per litre, making it Rs. 90.62 per litre. Similarly, the price of diesel was also decreased by 14 paise per litre, bringing it down to Rs. 83.61 per litre. This is the second consecutive day of price reduction in Kolkata, providing some relief to the citizens.

Chennai:
In Chennai, the prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged on May 2. The price of petrol in the city is Rs. 92.43 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs. 85.75 per litre. Despite the constant rates, Chennai still has relatively lower fuel prices compared to other major cities in India.

With the current prices, it is evident that fuel prices in India are still on the higher side. However, it is essential to note that the prices of petrol and diesel are determined by various factors such as international crude oil prices, exchange rate, and taxes imposed by the central and state governments.

The government has been facing criticism for not reducing the taxes on fuel, which could provide some relief to the citizens. However, it is also crucial to understand that the government needs revenue to fund various developmental projects and welfare schemes. Therefore, it becomes a balancing act for the government to reduce taxes while also ensuring the country’s economic growth.

In conclusion, the prices of petrol and diesel in India are still a cause of concern for many citizens. However, the recent decrease in prices in some cities provides some relief to the citizens. It is essential for the government to keep a check on the fuel prices and take necessary steps to ensure that the burden on the citizens is reduced. Let us hope for a stable and affordable fuel price in the future.
