With the year 2023 coming to a close, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra Star Sports’ has released their ODI Team of the Year. Despite Australia winning the ODI World Cup, the former opener picked no Australian player in his playing XI. Apart from the exclusion of the World Cup-winning players, Indian players like Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, etc. also failed to make the cut.

With three batters (Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma) and three bowlers (Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj), the India cricket team holds six of the eleven spots in the XI.
However, there are some notable exclusions. Players like Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell may not have made so many runs, but they left a huge impact. Bowlers Dilshan Madushanka and Adam Zampa also couldn’t make the list despite impressing everyone.
