You are unheard of wickedness. The wrath of the motorist fined for a few centimetres

He was fined for crossing the stop line with his vehicle at an intersection controlled by traffic lights. Even if it was a minimum exceedance (almost millimeter, at least according to the person concerned) the T-Red did not forgive. And after seeing the fine delivered to his home, the motorist protagonist of this story invited a harsh letter of criticism to the Pd councilor for traffic, accusing the Municipality in no uncertain terms of wanting to raise cash at the expense of motorists. This is what happened in the last few hours in Turin and it was the recipient of the message herself, namely the commissioner for traffic Chiara Foglietta, who made the incident known on social networks. Beyond the stop line, the title that the unknown driver gave to her protest. You and your collaborators (traffic policemen) are wicked to the point of cruelty, as can be clearly read in the incipit.

In the message, the user retraced the circumstances that led to the sanction, which he claimed was unjust. And he then accused the Pd administration not too covertly of wanting to cash in on the fines. I understand that the only thing that makes you euphoric is relentless with motorists who have exceeded the traffic light line by an inch – she continued, addressing the commissioner – if you want to increase the takings, I advise you to shorten the measure. Shame, shame, shame. A clear recrimination, which Foglietta did not like, however. Also because the user, in ironically hypothesizing the reasons which in his opinion would have led those who administer and the local police to rage against motorists, also attacked the commissioner on a personal level, assuming that at the basis of this alleged rage there was a childhood devoid of affection.

All of this is unacceptable – replied the commissioner on Facebook – even for those with broad shoulders like mine. The woman then collected the solidarity of her party, but the story rekindled the spotlight on the T-Red issue: according to reports from the local press, the devices installed in the recent past at the same time as city traffic lights would have resulted in thousands of fines in the past weeks, in several cases even fining drivers who had crossed the line with only a fraction of their front wheels. And all this, as it is easy to imagine, has aroused quite a few controversies among the residents. Not to mention that, according to what was reported by TorinoToday, the City of Turin collected just under 58 million euros in 2022 from fines imposed by the local police (a good 7 more than in 2019). And the topic, on this basis, promises to continue to be discussed for a long time.
