Foundation helps those affected with food and water

The Ayuda en Acción Foundation reached 200 families with supplies of
hygiene, food and safe water.

The international organization “Ayuda en Acción” has been around for more than 15 years
working in Esmeraldas, and their commitment to the communities
rural areas of the province has led him to deploy a plan to protect the
life and rights of the victims of the floods that occurred in
Muisne canton south of Esmeraldas.
His intervention began on Tuesday the 20th and ended on Thursday the 22nd of
June 2023, which included the delivery of food kits, which
will guarantee a nutritional balance for 4 people per family.

Delivery of kits
One of the most important missions of Ayuda en Acción is that water
stop being a privilege in Ecuador, for this reason it has invested in kits
that allow people to chlorinate water at home, and thus access water
clean and safe for consumption.
Which implies reducing your risk of contracting diseases, improving your
living conditions, and especially care for the health of boys, girls and
adolescents, who are the most vulnerable population during this
emergency.
Delivery in affected sectors
Jacinto Vilela coordinator of “Ayuda en Acción” in Esmeraldas, said that
the kits were delivered to the rural parishes of San
Gregorio, Sálima and Cabo San Francisco, the same one that had the
logistical support from technicians from the local Municipality, from the mayoress of Muisne
Yuri Colorado, political lieutenants, parish authorities and police
national.

Deliveries were made in the Muisne canton.

The Foundation has prioritized its attention to the south of the Muisne canton for being
one of the areas most affected by floods, and which is
having difficulties receiving humanitarian assistance due to their
geographical location and the poor state of its roads.
Adjustments and repairs to educational centers
According to Carlos Hernández, director in Ecuador of Ayuda en
Action, he stated in an interview with this medium that they have also
assumed the challenge of repairing the infrastructure of 5 educational units in
Muisne, who have lost their sanitary batteries and their pumping system
of water, a situation that prevents children and adolescents from returning
to their schools.
The institutions that will receive this aid will be: The Educational Unit* 100044*
San Francisco del Cabo, Feliciano Checa de Bunche School, Unit
Daule School, Sálima School and San School* 100046*
Jose de Chamanga

Losses in homes and crops
The floods in Esmeraldas have caused the loss of homes,
and large hectares of crops, which are the source of income for thousands of
families. For this reason contingency plans like the one that is
developing the foundation are essential to solve the
most emerging needs of the population.
“Our commitment to Esmeraldas is permanent, both for
fight poverty to save the lives of people in
emergency situations like the current one, we have prioritized areas
distant, where not much help arrives, and above all we have invested in
cover with our kits, basic needs for families, so that
can focus their efforts on recovering financially from the
catastrophe they have faced”, mentioned Carlos Hernández, director
National “Ayuda en Acción” in Ecuador.(JCH/LVS).
